MINERS
Schneider Honored By Western Athletic Conference

UTEP sophomore kicker Reagan Schneider was named the Western Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Schneider scored 14 points, most by a Miner kicker since 1988, against Weber State on Saturday. He tied the school record with four field goals (from 37, 40, 52 and 38 yards), and was two for two on extra points.

The last UTEP kicker to total as many points in a game was Chris Jacke versus San Diego State in 1988 (16 points).

A native of Canyon Lake, Texas, Schneider also had seven kickoffs totaling 443 yards (63.3 avg.) versus the Wildcats.

The last Miner to earn WAC Player of the Week honors was kicker Keith Robinson on Oct. 21, 2002. He was the special teams honoree after booming a school-record 59-yard field goal to beat Rice 38-35.

UTEP has had a WAC Player of the Week winner only three times since 2001.
