UTEP Invites Local Eateries to Participate in Chips & Salsa Contest at NMSU Game
Sept. 11, 2012
"Fiesta Night" will mark the 90th meeting between UTEP and New Mexico State on Saturday (Sept. 15) in the Sun Bowl, and fans can have a fiesta of their own in the UTEP Gameday Zone! El Paso and Las Cruces Mexican restaurants are invited to participate in a contest to determine who has the best chips and salsa in the Borderland. Fans can enjoy free samples in the Gameday Zone beginning at 4 pm, then vote for their favorites! The winning restaurant's name and logo will be displayed on the video board at halftime of the Miner and Aggie game. Kickoff is set for 6 pm. Local establishments already confirmed to participate include Casita Linda, Delicious Mexican Eatery, L and J Café, Leo's, Little Diner, Salsa Sandoval and Vista Supermarkets. Restaurants wishing to participate in the contest should contact Daniel Veale in the UTEP Marketing Department by phone (747-6782) or e-mail (djveale@utep.edu). There will be live music in the Gameday Zone beginning at 3 pm with DJ Johnny Kage and Radio La Chusma. Sept. 13-15 is also Parents Weekend at UTEP. The UTEP Parents Association is a membership-based organization founded in the fall of 2007 that works to unite Miner parents and guardians, connect them to the University through a variety of activities, and engage them as future parent leaders. For more information on the UTEP Parents Association, please call 747-8600.
