Football's Atkinson Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

EL PASO - UTEP football's Eloy Atkinson has been named to the Rimington Trophy 2012 Fall Watch List as announced by the committee on Tuesday. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. The winner will be honored on January 12, 2013.

Tabbed Conference USA Honorable Mention in 2011, Atkinson made 11 starts for the Miners. The 6'3 center helped the Miners tie for first nationally in long plays of 70+ yards, tied for second with plays of 60+ yards and tied for fifth nationally in plays of 50+ yards from scrimmage. The Miners scored 17 rushing touchdowns in the red zone and UTEP's 163 yards rushing per game marks its second-best effort in 13 years.
