The UTEP football team is picked to finish third in Conference USA's Western Division this season - behind Tulsa and Houston - by the majority of preseason magazines currently on newsstands.
Eleven UTEP players have earned preseason honors by six preseason publications - Athlon Sports, Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook, Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Lindy's, Phil Steele's and The Sporting News.
Highlighting the list of awards is senior kicker Jose Martinez's appointment to Phil Steele's preseason All-America first team.
The Miners will report to campus on Aug. 1 and begin practicing on Aug. 2 in preparation for the Aug. 28 season opener at Buffalo.
