EL PASO - The UTEP football team, under the direction of first-year head coach Sean Kugler, will launch spring drills at 7:45 a.m. at Glory Road Field Monday.  The annual spring game is slated for April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sun Bowl.

Kugler was named the Miners' 25th head coach on Dec. 10, 2012. Kugler is no stranger to UTEP, having played for the Miners under then head coach and current UTEP Director of Athletics Bob Stull for three seasons. He was on the UTEP staff from 1993-2000.

UTEP returns 42 letterwinners, including 15 starters. Highlighting the returnees is junior RB Nathan Jeffery, who racked up 897 yards on 184 carries. He had four 100-yard games that included a 177-yard performance against Oklahoma, earning him the Conference USA Player of the Week honor.

UTEP will kickoff the 2013 campaign against longtime rival New Mexico in the Sun Bowl on Sept. 7. Also on the home docket are UTSA, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa and Florida International. The Miners' highest profile road game comes on Nov. 7 when they visit Southeastern Conference power Texas A&M. Other road contests include NM State, Colorado State, Rice, North Texas, Tulane and Middle Tennessee State.
