Traun Roberson will serve as a graduate assistant in 2016. Roberson will work with cornerbacks coach Derrius Bell.

 

Roberson was a defensive back for the Miners from 2010-15. Roberson’s career took off during the 2013 season when he tallied a career-high in tackles (24), after playing in only three contests from 2010-12 due to injuries. The native of DeSoto, Texas, made a dramatic recovery and played in a total of 33 games from 2013-15.

 

As a senior Roberson was named special teams captain and started a career-best 10 games. Roberson recorded 23 tackles, including career-highs in solo stops (19) and pass breakups (four), along with his first career interception versus Incarnate Word.

 

Roberson’s best game was a 13-tackle performance against New Mexico during the 2013 season opener in the Sun Bowl. He also forced his first career fumble versus the Lobos.

 

In Roberson’s senior season at DeSoto High School, he was a unanimous first team All-District 11-5A selection and voted team MVP for the secondary position.
