Logan Barrett, a former kicker at UTEP, will serve as a graduate assistant for the Miners. Barrett wil fulfill duties under assistant athletic director for football operations Nate Poss. Barretts's UTEP coaching career started during spring football in 2014.

Barrett donned the Miners' uniform during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He redshirted his first season, while earning he starting kicker position his second season. He recorded 78 points, connecting on 39-of-41 extra points and 13-of-18 field goals.

A native of Kennedale, Texas, Barrett transferred to Stephen F. Austin University, but an ACL injury shortened his 2010 season. Barrett received his bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies in 2013.

Barrett will enter his fourth season in the coaching ranks. He served three seasons with his alma mater. In the spring of 2011, Barrett helped film practice. He then gained experience as football administrative assistant with special teams during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Following his sideline mentoring at Stephen F. Austin, Barrett received pro experience with the Dallas Cowboys in 2013 at mini camp/training camp.

Barrett attended Kennedale High School where he was a four-year varsity letterwinner. He was named a 10-3A second-team All-District kicker in 2004 and unanimous 10-3A All-District kicker in 2005. He played multiple positions in 2006, earning unanimous 12-3A All-District honors as a kicker and quarterback, while also being recognized as a TSWA honorable mention All-State kicker. His senior season, Barrett was named TSWA third-team All-State kicker, AP honorable mention All-State kicker, and 12-3A unanimous All-District kicker.
