Adam Ayala will continue to serve as a graduate assistant in 2016. Ayala will work with defensive line coach Andrew Browning.

Ayala played on the defensive line for the Miners from 2010-13, while redshirting in 2009. The native of Huntsville, Texas played in 42 games, starting eight for the Miners. Ayala recorded 48 tackles (4.5 for loss) with 2.5 sacks and seven quarterback hurries during his career.

As a senior, Ayala started six games, tallying 12 tackles and a sack. He tied a career-high with four stops against New Mexico to open the 2013 season. During his freshman season (2010), Ayala compiled a career-best 22 tackles with three quarterback hurries. He also blocked a punt and returned it 19 yards against Marshall.

He was named a unanimous first team All-District 18-4A defensive end as a senior at Huntsville High School. He also earned honorable mention All-State honors by the Texas Sportswriters and the Associated Press following the 2008 season.
