UTEP's Jackson Named Conference USA Player of the Week

UTEP senior guard Stefon Jackson was named the C-USA Player of the Week on Monday.

Jackson put together back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in his UTEP career, leading the Miners to a 2-0 week with wins over UAB (70-52) and Southern Miss (81-70). He scored 30 points in UTEP's home win over the Blazers, making 12-of-25 field goal attempts and 6-of-8 free throws. He added four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the victory. He scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half in his final home game for the Miners, who pulled away from a 34-30 halftime lead by outscoring UAB 36-22 in the second period. Jackson racked up 30 points in 31 minutes at Southern Miss as UTEP clinched the no. 4 seed in the Conference USA Championship. He went 10-for-18 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the charity stripe while chipping in with five boards, two assists and a steal. This is Jackson's third Player of the Week honor this season and fifth of his career.
