Washburn Earns Fourth C-USA Freshman of the Week Honor

UTEP's Julian Washburn was selected the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on Monday, marking the fourth time he has been recognized this season.
Washburn, who was also honored on Dec. 12, Dec. 19 and Jan. 9, averaged 16.5 points in the Miners' games versus Rice and SMU last week. He scored a career-high 21 points at SMU on Saturday, shooting 8-for-15 from the field, 2-for-4 from three-point range and 3-for-4 from the line. Washburn also had five rebounds and two steals against the Mustangs while playing 36 minutes.
Earlier in the week, the Duncanville, Texas native tallied 12 points in a home game versus Rice, along with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
Washburn is averaging a team-leading 11.5 points this season. The eighth seed Miners will take on ninth seed Houston in the opening round of the Conference USA Championship on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. MT in Memphis.
