UTEP sophomore guard Randy Culpepper was named the co-Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday, sharing honors with Tulsa junior center Jerome Jordan. It is the first player of the week honor for Culpepper, and the first for a Miner player other than Stefon Jackson since John Tofi was recognized on Feb. 13, 2006. Overall Culpepper is the fourth Miner to earn C-USA Player of the Week honors since UTEP joined the league for the 2005-06 season (the others are Jackson, Tofi and Miguel Ayala).

Culpepper averaged 21.0 points per game off the bench as UTEP won at New Mexico and SMU last week. He shot 13-for-25 (.520) from the field, 8-for-14 (.571) from three-point range and 8-for-10 (.800) from the line in the two victories. Culpepper scored 14 points at New Mexico before putting up 28 points in 30 minutes at SMU. He was 6-for-10 from three point territory against the Mustangs.
