UTEP's Washburn Garners Third C-USA Freshman of the Week Honor

UTEP's Julian Washburn was chosen the C-USA Freshman of the Week on Monday, his third honor of the season and the fourth for a Miner rookie in the last five weeks.

Washburn averaged a team-leading 17.0 points for the week as UTEP split its first two Conference USA games, losing at Marshall (76-60) and beating Houston at home (70-50). He shot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from the field in the two games while averaging 34 minutes. Washburn led the Miners in scoring with 15 points at Marshall, then tied his season-high with 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting versus UH. Washburn also held the Cougars' Jonathon Simmons to six points on 3-for-7 shooting after he entered the game averaging a team-high 15.9 ppg.

The Duncanville, Texas native was also selected C-USA Freshman of the Week on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.
