Cross Country to Compete at C-USA Championships

EL PASO, Texas - The UTEP cross country will be traveling to Denton, Texas for 2013 Conference USA Championships on Saturday.

Anthony Rotich leads the men's team having already claimed four crowns this season for the Miners. In the NCAA Pre-National meet the sophomore clocked in a time of in a time of 23:25.43 in the men's 8K race finishing in second place. Rotich has earned four C-USA Athlete of the Week honors during his 2013 campaign. His efforts on the trail also garnered him national recognition was he received a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honor (10/7).

Newcomer Cosmas Boit has also proven to a threat this year on the course. The freshman has claimed three silver finishes in his first season with the Orange and Blue. The freshman crossed the line second at the Lobo Invitational (14:59), Lori Fitzgerald (16:55) Invitational, and the Kachina Classic (15:41).

The women's team is led by junior Laura Delgado who took eighth in the 4k at the Lori Fitzgerald with a time of 15:34. Delgado was the women's top performer at the Notre Dame Adidas Classic as she crossed the line in 20:43.3.
