UTEP Returns to Action in the Notre Dame Adidas Classic

El PASO-The UTEP cross country team will be traveling to South Bend, Ind. to compete against 1,210 runners (616 men, 594 women) in the 58th Notre Dame Adidas Classic on Friday.

The UTEP women will be running a 5K while the men will be running five miles.

Leading the men's team is All-American Anthony Rotich, who has garnered three consecutive first place finishes. The sophomore has already received two Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors this season for his tremendous finish at the Lobos Invitational where he clocked in with a time of 14:39.20 in the 5K, and the Kachina Classic where he crossed the line with a time of 15:12.

Also competing for the Orange and Blue this weekend is freshman Cosmas Boit. The distance runner was the second Miner this season to earn C-USA Athlete of the week honors, earning his third silver finish with a time of 15:41 at the Kachina Classic last week.

Leading the women's team is freshman Truphena Sum who captured a fourth place finish in her debut with the Orange and Blue as she secured a 20:12 time at the Kachina Classic.
