Miner Men Dominate Lobo Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Sophomore All-American Anthony Rotich claimed his first title at the Lobo Invitational after coming in at a time of 14:39 in the 5k at the UNM Golf Course Saturday morning. 

Freshman Boit Cosmas crossed the line at 14:59 , having an outstanding debut in the Orange and Blue. Fellow teammate and sophomore Elphas Maiyo finished third with a clocking of 15:31. 

"The men's team did a wonderful job today for a start," UTEP head coach Paul Ering said. "Anthony led Cosmas , and Elphas to a one, two, three finish."

On the women's side , senior Laura Delgado took 16th finishing at 21:09. Returner Sandra Walker landed 19th overall at 21:25. 

"Laura Delgado led the women's team," Ering said. "We do certainly still have some room for improvement." 

Overall this weekend was a a nice way for the Orange and Blue to open the season. 

The team will continue its campaign by competing at Chamizal National Memorial Park on Friday in El Paso , Texas.
