Group of Miners Ready to Race at Bobcat Classic

San Marcos, Texas - A group of Miners are set to compete at the Bobcat Classic in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday.

Highlighting the men's team at the meet will be Donovant Grant in the men's triple jump scheduled for 6 p.m. (CDT). The senior has proven to be a threat this season as he posted the 26th-best mark in the nation of 7.53m in the long jump. In the triple jump he holds the No. 5 spot in the Conference USA performance list with a mark of 15.15m.

Also taking the field on Saturday is two-sport star Brandon Moss participating in the triple jump for the first time this season. The freshman will also compete for the Orange and Blue in the long jump at 12 p.m.

El Paso native Xavier Baker will partake in the men's high jump once more before heading to the Conference USA Championships. The sophomore is ranked second in C-USA in the high jump with a leap of 2.11 recorded at the UTEP Springtime.

Three Miners will take the track in the 100m and 200m dash in the afternoon. The 100m is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the 200m is set to start at 6:30 p.m.

Kristian Dillard and Anthony Wright will race in the 100m and 200m dash. Wright is ranked third in the 200m and fourth in the 100m in the league. The senior clocked in a time of 10:53 in the 100m at the UTEP Invitational.

Freshman Sven Zellner will look to continue his progress in the 110m hurdles at 2:40 p.m. as he prepares to head to the Conference Championships. The hurdler is fifth in the league with a time of 14.41 posted at the UTEP Invitational. 

On the women's side, Nickevea Wilson will partake in her second triple jump competition of the outdoor season. The sophomore set the 26th-best mark in the nation with a jump of 12.72m registered at the Texas Tech Open. The jumper will take the runway at 3 p.m. along with Monica Lopez and Rahelys Barsey.



Jackline Ekai and Mariah Bowers will represent the distance team at the Bobcat Classic. The duo will run in the 800m at 4:20 p.m. in what will be a competitive race for the Miners.
