El Paso Native Rates Top Ten at Texas

Austin, Texas – El Paso native Jallycia Pearson concluded day one of the women’s heptathlon in seventh place at the Texas Relays.
The junior ended the first day of the meet finishing in the top ten in all four events. She kicked off the heptathlon with the 100m hurdles, where she posted a seventh place finish with a time of 14.07 and a wind of 2.1.
Pearson then registered a personal best jump of 1.66m (5-05.25) in the high jump placing ninth out of 24 athletes. She then recorded a toss of 11.22m (36-09.75) in the shot put. The multi-event competitor wrapped up the long day of competition in the 200m dash, where she ran a 25.32 with a wind of 3.4.
Pearson currently has a combined score of 3,242 with the long jump, javelin throw and 800m still to participate in tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. (MT).
