EL PASO - Four UTEP track and field athletes will compete at this weekend's Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame in their last chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Junior Terran Alexander will be the lone woman competing this weekend looking to improve her NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw. The Conference USA champion in the event posted a season best and personal record of 19.42m (63-08.75) on Feb. 13 at the Texas A&M Challenge. Alexander will take the field at the Loftus Sports Center at 3 p.m. (MT) on Friday.

All-American Nicodemus Ng'etich takes the track at 11:40 a.m. (MT) in the men's 3,000-meter run on Saturday. Ng'etich recorded a 8:18.58 at last week's conference championships where he finished third. His best time this season was 8:12.61 at the Texas A&M Challenge.

Anderson Mutegi takes part in the men's 400-meter dash. His best performance in the event this season is a provisional time of 47.18 set on Feb. 6 at the Nebraska Frank Sevigne Invitational.

Aggrey Chirchir will run in the meet's premier event, the Alex Wilson 800-meter run. Chirchir won the event at the C-USA Championships a week ago with a time of 1:54.04. His best time, however, was a 1:52.81 set at the Texas A&M Challenge. The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place next weekend, March 12-13, and will be hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
