Bloomington, Ind. – Freshman Taylor Gunn competes at the 2012 USA Junior Championships at Indiana University.

Gunn represented the Miners participating in the women’s discus on Friday. The freshman posted a mark of 47.63m in the discus and finished 10th overall on the first day of the Junior Championships.

“Taylor Gunn had a great year, improving her personal record in the discus by 20 feet,” said head coach Mika Laaksonen. “It was a competitive year in the women’s discus.”

Shelbi Vaughan took first setting an American junior record and a USA junior meet record with a toss of 60.59m in the event. Alex Collatz from USC also qualified for the junior Olympics with a throw of 52.18m.
