Final Stats


LINCOLN, NEBR. – Endurance Abinuwa and Solomon Gardea post national top times at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday.

Abinuwa crossed the finish line first in the women’s 400m dash prelims recording a time of 54.60. The All-American ran the 400m dash for the first time this season and registered the nations 23rd fastest time. The senior will be participating in the women’s 400m dash finals tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. (CT).

Abinuwa also finished first in the women’s 60m prelims clocking in a time of 7.40. Teammate Yolanda Suggs posted a time of 7.60, while Magen Del Pino crossed the finish line with a time of 7.66.

Gardea had a stellar performance posting the nations 31st fastest time in the men’s 5,000m run. The El Paso native took second-place overall registering a time of 14:32.74.

Anthony Wright took second in the men’s 60m prelims with a time of 6.78. The junior will be competing in the finals tomorrow at 2:50 p.m.

Janice Jackson was the women’s top finisher in the 60m hurdles prelims. The sophomore recorded a time of 8.59 taking first-place for the Miners. Samantha Sharper finished fourth posting a time of 8.68.

Wrapping up the women’s side was Marine Menez in the pentathlon with 747 points. Senior Tako Niare took sixth-place for the women with a total of 678 points.



The Miners will continue competition tomorrow at 12 p.m. with Matt Dudley representing UTEP in the men’s shot put and Laura Delgado in the women’s mile run.
