Abinuwa Claims Crown at Cherry and Silver Invitational

Albuquerque, N.M. - All-American Endurance Abinuwa claimed the crown in the women's 200m dash posting a season-best time of 23.76 at the Cherry and Silver Invitational. 

The senior finished ahead of 80 runners on the first day of competition at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Abinuwa will also be running in the women's 60m and 4x400m relay tomorrow. 

Teammate Janice Jackson crossed the finish line 17th in the women's 200m with a time of 24.99. While Yolanda Suggs recorded a time of 25.29 and Megan Del Pino clocked in a time of 25.97.

Kitria Stewart took silver in the women's 600m run registering a time of 1:35.82 and Jackline Ekai finished sixth with a time of 1:36.36.

On the men's side Anthony Wright posted a time of 21.91 in the 200m dash taking eight-place overall. While senior Suji Adeniyan took 18th in the event clocking in a time of 22.30. 

Freshmen Ramon Garcia participated in the men's 600m run and registered a time 1:21.78. 

The Miners will return to action tomorrow morning with the women's long jump at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 4:20 p.m. with the women's 4x400 relay.
