UTEP's Team Fund Drive Heads To Outlet Mall Saturday

Aug. 11, 2010

EL PASO, TEXAS- Volunteers representing UTEP's "Team Fund Drive" will be on site to interact with community members while offering the chance to purchase season tickets for football or men's basketball or make donations to the Miner Athletic Club at the Outlet mall from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The set-up will be in a booth by the food court. For individuals who are interested in volunteering with "Team Fund Drive" or who wish to purchase season tickets but cannot attend Saturday's event, please contact Chris Lynn with the Miner Athletic Club. Lynn may be reached via e-mail (clynn2@utep.edu) or by phone (915-747-6782).

The Miner Athletic Club is the fund-raising arm for UTEP's Athletic Department. Funds raised help offset the cost of student-athlete scholarships and support the department as a whole.

Season tickets for the 2010 Miners' football campaign start as low as $99 for an individual general admission seat and $192 for a family pack (two adults, two youth). For men's basketball, an upper-reserved season ticket is a great value at $195 while family packs can be secured for $500.

UTEP will open its 92nd season of action on the gridiron when it welcomes Arkansas-Pine Bluff to the Sun Bowl on Sept. 4. The highly-anticipated battle for I-10 against New Mexico State is set for a 7:05 p.m. kickoff on Sept. 18.

Three of four and four of the initial six contests will be held in El Paso, with Memphis (Sept. 25) and Rice (Oct. 9) joining the Golden Lions and Aggies during the stretch. Tulane (Oct. 23) and SMU (Nov. 6) will round out the home ledger.

The schedule for the men's basketball team has yet to be announced but it is shaping up to be an exciting 2010-11 season. Tim Floyd, who was an assistant coach under the legendary Don Haskins at UTEP from 1978-86, will be in his first year as the Miners' head coach. Defending C-USA Player of the Year Randy Culpepper is back for his senior season, and the Miners will play host to the 2011 C-USA Championships.
