The Life Skills Mentor and Advising programs were created to establish a solid foundation for student-athlete career and academic futures.
Life Skills Career Mentor Program
The Career Mentor Program matches participating student-athletes with successful professionals in their chosen career path. The program centralizes around regular correspondence between mentor and student that develops an educational and professional relationship. It is open to junior or senior level student-athletes.
Life Skills Peer Career Advising Program
The Peer Career Advising Program is open to student-athletes who would appreciate the added responsibility of informing their fellow student-athletes about upcoming career workshops, opportunities, fairs, and informational sessions. Program volunteers will act on behalf of the Life Skills program as liaisons to the University Career Center. The program is open to junior or senior level student-athletes.
Life Skills Peer Academic Advising Program
The Peer Academic Advising Program is open to student-athletes who would welcome the opportunity to inform the student-athlete population about academic organizations on campus, graduation requirements for each college, and the graduate school application process. Program volunteers will act on behalf of the Life Skills program as liaisons to the Miner Athletic Academic Center (MAAC). The program is open to junior or senior level student-athletes.
How to Join a Program
If you are a junior or senior level student-athlete at UTEP and interested in participating in the Life Skills Mentor, Peer Career Advising, or Peer Academic Advising program, please e-mail the Life Skills department with your expressed interest at firstname.lastname@example.org.
