The UTEP Athletic Department is committed to providing the necessary tools for student-athletes to succeed in the classroom. The Life Skills program is just one of many resources available to student-athletes to enable achievement in this area.
The Miner Athletic Academic Center (MAAC) is centrally located on campus alongside the Liberal Arts building and provides a multitude of free services to accommodate our student-athletes. These services include academic advising, one-on-one tutoring, regular mentor meetings, and structured study hall.
Life Skills Computer Lab
The Life Skills Computer Lab is conveniently located near the front entrance of the Larry K. Durham Center, Computer Lab 122. It also serves as the main office of the Life Skills program. Here, student-athletes are welcome to free printing, scantrons, blue books, and also relaxation time.
Student-Athletes are nominated and receive numerous national, conference, and university academic awards including Verizon Academic All-American, C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's List, Athletic Directors' Team GPA Award, C-USA Scholar Athlete Award, and UTEP Top Ten Senior.
The UTEP Athletic department strives to implement and participate in programs aimed at recognizing the academic success of student-athletes, as well as thanking those individuals and campus entities that assist in the success of athletics. These programs include Graduation Brunch, Student-Athlete Faculty Appreciation Night, Football and Basketball halftime recognition, Faculty Coach Program, and Commencement and Convocation.
