Gloria Brown scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds while blocking four shots to help lead UTEP past New Mexico, 53-43, on the road on Saturday, Dec. 10. The senior hit 5-of-8 shots from the floor, including tallying the first six points of the game to get the Miners going after they had missed their first 11 shots. She also had three steals and a block during a key 7-0 surge that gave UTEP a 37-30 midway through the second half. UNM would get no closer than four points from that moment.
Gabriel McCulley Men's Basketball
Gabriel McCulley posted career highs in four statistical categories while recording the first double-double of his career in UTEP's 73-69 win over Interstate 10 rival New Mexico State on Sunday at the Don Haskins Center. McCulley finished with personal bests for points (18), rebounds (13), assists (seven) and steals (three), while adding a blocked shot in 36 minutes. It was his second game back from surgery for a stress fracture in his leg. McCulley made 8-of-10 shots and helped the Miners to a 39-30 rebounding advantage after they were dominated on the glass, 42-27, in an 89-73 loss to the Aggies in Las Cruces on Nov. 19.
