Kayla Thornton, Women's Basketball
Kayla Thornton averaged 10 points and seven rebounds while posting four assists with no turnovers in 22.5 minutes per game to help keep the Miners (7-0) undefeated on the year. She hit 56.5 percent of shots, and five of her 14 rebounds on the week were of the offensive variety. That effort played a role in UTEP registering 37 total second-chance points in the pair of blow-out wins.
Michael Perez, Men's Basketball
Michael Perez scored 13 of his career-high 18 points in the second half, and UTEP gave Oregon all it could handle before falling 64-59 on Nov. 29. He connected on 8-of-12 shots, including converting an old-fashioned three-point play to make it a one-point Ducks' advantage (56-55) with 1:38 to go. Perez sunk a pair of free throws while grabbing two rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
