Gloria Brown Women's Basketball
Senior forward Gloria Brown helped lead the Miners to a perfect 2-0 record by averaging 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks. She flirted with a triple-double (21 points, nine boards, eight blocks) while playing a career-high 31 minutes in the win at NM State (11/16/11). The eight rejections rate third all time at the school, trailing only former Miner Izabela Piekarska's single-game effort (10, twice). Brown then scored eight points while grabbing seven rebounds and also blocking a shot in only seven minutes of action in the 82-53 rout of Houston Baptist (11/19/11).
Jordan Leslie Football
Jordan Leslie became the third UTEP wideout to register a 100-yard receiving game last week against Tulsa when he reeled in seven catches for 119 yards. The others are Donavon Kemp (114 yards versus Stony Brook) and Mike Edwards (187 at Rice). Leslie is the first Miner freshman to post a 100-yard game since Johnnie Lee Higgins, Jr. versus Louisiana Tech on Oct. 11, 2003 (126 yards). Leslie has been UTEP's leading receiver in four games this season.
