Risper Kimaiyo (Cross Country)
All-American Risper Kimaiyo became the first woman in program and also Conference USA history to claim back-to-back NCAA Cross Country Mountain Regional championships. She finished in a time of 20:35 to top the field at the 2011 edition of the event in Provo, Utah, on Nov. 19. Her efforts helped lead the squad to a 14th-place finish at the event, which was held at the East Bay Golf Course. Kimaiyo was selected as an at-large individual to compete at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will take place in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 21.
Joe Banyard (Football)
Joe Banyard picked up his third 100-yard rushing game of his career against East Carolina rushing 18 times for 140 yards. His 77-yard TD run in the fourth quarter clinched the game for the Miners. It was the longest run of his career and tied for the 10th-longest by a UTEP player. It also marked the second 70-plus yard run of the season (72 vs. Tulane) for Banyard who also recorded a career-high 24-yard reception in the contest. Banyard leads UTEP with 690 rushing yards and has been the Miners' leading rusher a team-high six times in 2011.
