Sophomore Autrey Golden took another kick-off to return to the house to etch his name into the UTEP record books in the UTEP football team's 34-20 loss vs. Tulsa on Oct. 12. With his 100-yard return for a TD in the third quarter, Golden became the first player in school history to return four kickoffs for touchdowns. He is also the only player in school history with two kickoff returns for TDs in two seasons. He had two in 2012 and has two this year. Golden also becomes the first UTEP player with two kickoff returns of 100 yards, including one versus UTSA on Sept. 21. Additionally, Golden moved into sixth place on UTEP's career kickoff return yardage list with 1,335 yards. Overall Golden is accounting for 32.1 yards per return in 2013 to rank sixth nationally while his pair of scores on the year put him atop the leaderboard.
UTEP senior Xitlali Herrera continued her outstanding season by guiding the Miners to a 1-1 record on the road over the weekend. She delivered 19 kills, with a .485 attack percentage, while also posting seven digs and one solo block to help UTEP topple Middle Tennessee, 3-1, on Oct. 11. Herrera hammered a match-high 17 kills to go along with seven digs, two assists and one block assist in a setback at Southern Miss on Oct. 13.
