Xitlali Herrera, Volleyball
Xitlali Herrera had a stellar week registering a double-double as she led the Miners to victory against I-10 rival NM State. The last time, UTEP defeated the Aggies was in 2004. The middle blocker posted 15 kills, 11 digs three blocks (1s/2a) and registered a .414 hitting percentage versus NM State. The junior continued to dominate offensively, recording a .647 hitting efficiency versus UAB earning Herrera the No. 4 spot in the UTEP recordbook for hitting percentage in four sets. Herrera led the Miners past the Blazers with 13 kills and seven digs. UTEP extended the winning streak to six as they defeated Memphis, 3-1. The middle blocker was a force at the net posting a season-best nine blocks (4s/5a) and added 12 kills and seven digs against the Tigers. Herrera averaged 3.33 kills per set, 1.08 blocks per set and a .423 hitting efficiency this week and leads C-USA ranking first in hitting percentage, seventh in kills, and third in blocks in conference only matches.

Anthony Rotich, Cross Country
In a close photo finish, Anthony Rotich took second place in the men's 8K race at the Cowboy Jamboree this weekend. The Miners took on No. 2 in the nation, Oklahoma State and the freshman led the men's team to a fourth place finish as he clocked in a time of 24:29.26. The Kenyan native held the top-ranked Cowboys back from a 1,2,3,4 finish as he followed closely behind OSU top finisher.
