Freshman Lauren Katada compiled five points (1-3-5) in helping UTEP forge a mark of 1-0-1 over the weekend. She was a key cog in the Miners' comeback at UTSA on Sept. 18, posting an assist and the match-tying-goal. Katada, who played 76 minutes off the bench, helped start UTEP's comeback with a good feed to set up Mackenzie German's goal (63:08) to get it on the board. She then was in the right place at the right time, sending home a shot with only 45 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the match. Katada opened the weekend by registering a pair of key assists in a 3-1 UTEP triumph at Sam Houston State on Sept. 16. She played a beautiful thru ball which led to the eventual match-winning strike. Then after SHSU cut the advantage down to one (2-1), she assisted on a much-needed insurance tally in the 82nd minute.
