UTEP Athletics Collects Two National Awards

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP Athletics’ Marketing and Promotions department received a pair of silver awards at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) recognizing the outstanding achievement in the field.

The Miners won second-place in the New-Revenue Generating Idea category for its “UTEP Athletics Day at Papa John’s.” UTEP’s coaches hand delivered Papa John’s pizzas to its local customers from various locations.

The department also received silver in the TV Commercial category for its 2009-10 men’s basketball season ticket ad.

The Miners were one of 27 schools to receive more than one NACMA “Best of” awards for 2009-10. The NACMA awards consist of 13 different categories that are then divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliation.

UTEP was placed in the Group 1 level amongst Kansas State, LSU, Ohio University, Florida State and TCU.

The 20th Annual NACMA Convention was held on June 22-25 in Anaheim, Calif.
