NFL standout Quintin Demps and women's basketball all-time leading scorer Jareica Hughes highlight UTEP's list of May, 2010 graduating student-athletes. Thirty-four Miners will go through commencement procedures on Saturday.

Coupled with 24 Miners graduating in December, a total of 58 UTEP student-athletes will receive diplomas during the 2009-10 athletic year.

Demps has played in 25 games for the Philadelphia Eagles over the last two seasons, tallying 32 tackles and averaging 25.3 yards on 58 kickoff returns. He was a first team All-Conference USA player as a senior at UTEP in 2007, when he had a pair of 100-yard interception returns. Demps ranks second in school history with 17 picks.

Hughes is not only UTEP's top point producer (1,555), but also rates first in school annals in assists (599), field goals made (527), free throws made (359) and attempted (492), minutes played (3,777) and steals (277). A two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, she led the Miners to a school-record 84 wins over four seasons.

Of the 34 graduating student-athletes, 10 hail from football, five from volleyball, four from soccer, three from softball, two each from men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf and track & field, and one each from rifle and tennis.

The list of football representatives includes Steve Riddick, an El Paso native who made 30 starts in the UTEP defensive line over the last three seasons, and Adam Vincent, a first team All-League honoree and the team's leading tackler with 110 stops in 2008.

Also graduating from the women's basketball program is Timika Williams, the only player in school history to accumulate 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 100 steals.

UTEP's soccer graduates include Chelsea Winbush, a two-time All-Conference USA selection and the only player in school history to garner league Player of the Week honors on both offense and defense.

A pair of track & field stars will also don the cap and gown this weekend. Dominic Tanui was an All-American indoors in the 800 meters in 2006, and Halimat Ismaila was an All-American outdoors as part of the Miners' 4x100 meter relay unit in 2008.

Softball's Amber Bennett, a second team All-Conference USA choice after batting .307 in 2008, will also graduate on Saturday.
