Anthony Rotich And Anete Steinberga Are The Miners of the Week

Anthony Rotich earned All-American honors after finishing sixth overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the men's 5,000m final on March 8. The sophomore clocked in a time of 13:43.52 in the event to secure his third All-American honor of his collegiate career. Rotich was also the lone sophomore that participated in a very competitive 3,000m race that was comprised of five juniors and 10 seniors. He crossed the finish line with a time of 8:03.76, finishing 13th overall at the championship event.

Senior Anete Steinberga (22 points/17 rebounds) registered a double-double, and UTEP raced past Tulane, 71-52, on "Senior Night" at the Don Haskins Center March 8. . She converted the energy from an emotional pre-game ceremony into a fitting sendoff, setting career highs for rebounds (17) and blocked shots (three). She sunk 8-of-19 shots and 6-of-8 at charity stripe on the way to setting the school record for consecutive double-digit scoring games at 20.
