Julian Washburn & Ashley Eldridge are the Miners of the Week

Washburn averaged 18.0 points, making 14-of-23 shots (.609) and 5-of-6 three pointers (.833) as UTEP had a 1-1 week with a loss to Florida Atlantic (71-69) and a win over FIU (84-71). He played the full 40 minutes versus the Owls, scoring 16 points. He was on the floor for 37 minutes against FIU, picking up his team-leading ninth career 20-point game. He scored 20 points versus the Panthers, connecting on 8-of-11 shot attempts and all four of his three-point tries. He added six rebounds, five assists and two steals as the Miners won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Ashley Eldridge Softball
Junior Ashley Eldridge continued her fine start to the season by batting .421 (8-of-19) and driving home seven runs during a five-game span at the Easton Desert Classic from Feb. 13-15. Eldridge, a Las Vegas native, opened the tournament up with a pair of extra-base hits (2B & HR) to go along with four RBI, on a grand slam, against perennial power Hawaii on Feb. 13. She was held in check against Nevada (2/14) before banging out six hits in 13 at-bats over the final three games. Overall for the tournament six of her eight hits went for extra bases, with five doubles and the aforementioned grand slam. She also scored four runs.
