Anthony Rotich, Men's Track & Field
Anthony Rotich wasted no time in dominating the track, as he clocked in the fastest time in the nation in the 3,000m and mile run in his first meet of season. The sophomore crossed the finish line first in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:08.48 at the Cherry and Silver Invitational. With altitude conversions, Rotich time is 4:03.07 earning him the No.1 spot in the national rankings.
The distance runner didn't stop there as he claimed another first-place finish in the 3,000m registering a time of 8:11.51. After sea-level adjustments Rotich time is 7:59.40, which is the fastest-time in the nation in the 3,000m.
Janice Jackson, Women's Track & Field
Janice Jackson dominated the women's 60m hurdles at the Cherry and Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The junior clocked in the fastest time in the 60m hurdles prelims posting a time of 8.41. The sprinter went on to cross the finish line first in the finals and recorded the 14th-fastest time in the nation of 8.33 in the event. Jackson's performance also earned her the No. 3 spot in the UTEP recordbook in the women's 60m hurdles.
