BYLAW 16: Awards, Benefits and Expenses

Complimentary Ticket List

  • In all sports in which admission is charged, participating student-athletes may designate up to three individuals to receive complimentary admission to the event. Individuals receiving the complimentary admission must present identification at the admission gate in order to receive the complimentary admission. All complimentary admissions requested by student-athletes must be received no later than 24 hours prior to the start of the contest.

Occasional Meal Request

    Student-athletes or an entire team may receive an occasional meal on infrequent and special occasions in one of two ways:

    1. An institutional staff member may provide a student-athlete or an entire team an occasional meal under the following conditions:

  • The meal must be provided either in a restaurant in the locale of the institution or at the staff member's home;
  • Reasonable local transportation may be provided to attend such meals; and
  • An Occasional Meal Request Form must be submitted and approved prior to the meal taking place.
  • 2. A booster may provide a student-athlete or an entire team an occasional meal under the following conditions:

  • The meal must be provided in an individual's home (as opposed to a restaurant) and may be catered;
  • A representative of the institution's athletics interest may provide reasonable local transportation to student-athletes to attend the meal function only if the meal function is at the home of that representative; and
  • An Occasional Meal Request Form must be submitted and approved prior to the meal taking place.

Participation and Team Awards

  • At the conclusion of each sport's traditional playing season, the Compliance Office will distribute the Participation and Team Awards Form to the coaching staff. The coach will then complete the form by listing all non-letter awards (senior awards, most improved, highlight video, etc.) received by student-athletes on their roster. The coach will then submit this form, along with a list of all student-athletes who received first-year letter awards (letter jackets) to the Compliance Office.

Equipment Retention Form

  • Throughout the academic year, the designated coach on each staff is required to note on the following form each piece of equipment purchased for each student-athlete, that might possibly be retained by the student-athlete at the end of his/her collegiate career. At the conclusion of each student-athlete's collegiate career, the designated coach must note whether each piece of equipment was returned or whether the equipment was retained by the student-athlete. If the equipment was retained, the amount paid by the student-athlete must be noted as well. This form is to be submitted to the Compliance Office at the conclusion of each academic year.
